We are exactly one week away from school starting. We had middle school orientation today and high school orientation tomorrow.
Phew! and to add to all that, Ayden has his last 2 classes of drivers ed and we have one last family trip planned for the weekend, oh and a new roof coming on Friday. With all that going on I am busily nesting. It helps me to organize and situate things before we have major change in our house. The kids are all used to it. They no longer get in my way they know the drill and often they help me out and give me input.
So here's what I have been working on to try to streamline the chaos:
1. I have made a lunch basket. Here is where they will find what they need to make their lunches so they don't have to ransack my pantry to find something. I love the idea and it helps too with storage because right after I buy something for their lunches, I immediately separate them into baggies and it leaves me with one less grocery item I have to find a home for. Breaks up 2 steps into one: putting away the groceries and packing them for lunch. Love it!
2. I love to write notes to my kids in the morning. I usually write any reminders and any to do's on their. This year instead of leaving it ont eh counter in a wire notebook, I have installed 3 wipe boards. It is working fabulously! the only thing i will miss is being able to look back on those notes. They are some pretty good reading material sometimes. Especially when i am po'd about something :)
3. The last thing I have been working on is making some items ahead of time to put in the freezer. My friend from college is part of "make a-head Mamma's" and I have used many of their recipes. Including these make ahead breakfast burritos and their granola.
Totally fabulous! And the kids all think they will be perfect for quick breakfasts.
This crazy trick works wonders too.
Pre-scramble some eggs so they are ready to go! Fab-U-lous!!
The other thing I have done to simply my life is renewing my e-mealz account. This saved my life last year, especially during football season when we get home so late and the kids are famished. If you haven't heard about e-mealz, check them out. you will not be disappointed. I guaruntee!! So there you have it....gettin' things done! Love it. this is what I live for. I swear I should have been a organizer instead of a nurse, my OCD tendencies really take over me sometimes. It gives me grief often too, but there are the rare occasions that I think it does have it's advantages.
And finally, look at these loves:
I know...takes your breath away huh? L*O*V*E*!
